"Oh Linda, you make me cry… people in heaven don’t have those thoughts or memories anymore otherwise it wouldn’t be heaven. There is a verse in Genesis about Jacob's ladder to paraphrase when you die and walk up to heaven all the regrets and sins are stripped away. I'm sure Bob will be waiting with open arms with me and rocky right behind him.” Lloyd

Lloyd "The Hammer" Mack - The greatest 16 inch softball pitcher of the Dupage Valley. Winning tournaments from Warrenville to Elmhurst to West Chicago starting with the Warrenville Baptists at the age of 12, the fine C21 team, then onto the legendary S&S we're the best team dominating the 1980's at the end of the decade the league was discontinued at the final game Lloyd was honored with the title of the greatest 16 inch softball pitcher and a salute by other players saying "well done Lloyd well done"
Simultaneously Lloyd started playing with the Italian club, Mike's 7-11 and than Aucutts winning tournaments from Aurora to Maple Park, West Chicago all the way to the Illinois River Valley winning the prestigious Ottawa tournament pitching 14 inch softball his dominance spanned half of Illinois.

I remember Lloyd from when he was a small boy, who kept Mary busy containing him as we watched the Warrenville Cyclones win game after game with "Wahoo" Mack and my husband Ray play baseball at the VFW field in Warrenville. precious memories.
I also remember when he and I stood in the back yard of the home the Mack’s lived on Main Street as we looked around and remembered the way the neighborhood looked(including the little white picket fence around the front yard) and how times have changed.

Fishing Contest
"Madeline got that trout. I'll tell you the story my Aunt Gloria (who ran away from home to skate in the roller derby!!) was visiting from Las Vegas so we all went up to Vega reservoir to go fishing. We had a contest to see who could catch the most. The teams were Mom, Dad, Gloria against Mike, Madeline and me. No one was catching anything, so I got Madeline to walk up to the stream that feeds into the reservoir. We sat down and I put a big night crawler on hooked it once so it looked natural and I sat down on the bank and told her drop it in and let it float down with the current. I watched the line go out and the line stopped and I told her to yank and sure enough first try she caught that trout. 15 minutes later we came back to the group and they got skunked she won us the contest. She was so proud. 2001 my Dad dumped my Mom's ashes in that very spot. Years later after my Dad died and the reservoir was way down and the creek was barely flowing I walked up and found a set of dear tracks and placed them in the dear tracks that Hunts my Dad loved. I drove back and all the way down the mesa all I saw was bluebirds flying around.
Linda, this story is absolutely true. I carried my Dad's ashes in my trunk for six months. I was working at Reid's as a cashier. I asked for time off and they wouldn't give me any so on a day off I headed for Colorado. I drove straight to Colorado after I dumped the ashes I drove straight home to Illinois 40 hrs I was dead tired." Lloyd

Hiking & Waterfalls
When the kids and I were at Yosemite there's a trail that takes you to the top of this path. It was very narrow so narrow it only had room for one person. There were people going up and down at the same time no railing in spots I was scared shitless, but the kids loved it. There were waterfalls all the way up. I was scared they would fall and Linda would kill me. When we got to the top there was a big flat spot where the water was really shallow. They spent hours sliding around. The hike up and down nearly killed me.” Lloyd

I met Lloyd in 1981 when we played in the Aurora slow pitch league. We played together for the next 12 or so years and with Lloyd on the mound we won the league every year. Never thought that throwing a no hitter in unlimited arc softball was possible but Lloyd did it twice along with a perfect game. He was truly the Cy Young of slow pitch softball. During this time I also saw him "being Lloyd" by purposely throwing behind a batter trying to, and succeeding to hit his bat for a foul ball. I also remember him ramming his head into a steel trashcan after taking a called third. Lloyd did some crazy things like "pants" one of our teammates during a victory celebration, and get thrown out of a game for arguing a call when the umpire called him safe at home.
We lost touch for a number of years after the team broke up, but we reconnected a few years ago on Facebook and I am glad we were able to reminisce about the "old days".
Lloyd was a good friend, and a great teammate and will be missed. Rest in peace my friend.

He certainly was one of a kind. He and I traveled to USWest in Seattle many times for Tellabs. He always brought laughter to the trip.
I remember one trip we took to California and how happy he was that he got a cadillac as a rental car. He couldn´t wait to show me how the car would alert you when you left the turn signal on too long. One of the many that made Tellabs a great place to work.

Though I didn't know Lloyd personally, I knew of him because we all worked together at Tellabs. We'd go to Sharko's in Lisle in large groups at all different times.
Lloyd was a character to say the least. A huge prankster and had a somewhat tough guy reputation.
My condolences to his family and his friends, RIP.
