Obituary of Thomas Francis Heenan

   Thomas Francis Heenan, 75, passed away Monday, December 19, 2022.

   Tom was born in New York, New York and has a distinguished academic career including graduating with honors from Manhattan College. A lifelong career with the Department of Energy took Tom from coast to coast before finishing with one of the top DOE positions at the Savannah River Site here in Aiken, SC; like many who relocated to Aiken to work at the site, Tom retired here and was able to spend many fond years enjoying time with his wife and with friends on the golf course. He liked to joke that he was proud to have spent more time in Aiken retired than he did working.

   In his retirement, Tom was able to pursue one of his passions of charitable outreach including granting wishes for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, amongst many others.

   Mr. Heenan spent many years supporting St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church and School. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

   Tom is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda; his two sons, Sean Heenan (Marie) and Daniel Heenan (Alison) of Aiken, SC; and four grandchildren, Sean, Samantha, Sloan, and Loren.

   A Requiem Mass will be held 10:00AM on Friday, January 6, 2022 at St. Mary's Help of Christians Catholic Church, 138 Fairfield St SE, Aiken, SC 29801, with interment to immediately follow in the St. Mary's Columbarium.
