Obituary of Billy C. Lykins

Please share a memory of Billy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Billy C. Lykins, 92, Aiken, S.C., passed Friday, September 27, 2024, at home in Aiken, SC.

A native of Ashland, KY, Bill was the son of the late Sam Lykins and Hala Queen Wheeler. A graduate of Ashland High School where he was a Boys State representative in Washington, D.C. and where he met his soon to be bride (after college graduation) Mary Sue Lewis. A degree in business from the University of Cincinnati and a life long alumni of The Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Bill served as a First Lieutenant in the Army, First Platoon, anti-aircraft artillery division. After his service he began his career with the Ashland Oil Company prior to his joining the executive team at The Jurgensen Companies retiring after 32 years as Executive Vice President. A founding member and past President of The O'Bannon Creek Golf Club, Loveland, OH, Bill played golf his entire life and had too many hole in ones than we can remember. He played his last round just last month.

Bill and Mary Sue settled in Aiken, SC after his retirement and enjoyed the company of many new friends in the Woodside Plantation Community, where he served on the board in various capacity as an advisor and President. The Lykins Annual Christmas Parties hosted by Bill and Mary Sue were a much anticipated holiday ritual.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Sue; sons, Jeffrey Lewis (Michelle), Foster, R.I. and William Lewis, Scottsdale, AZ; sister in law, Linda Lykins, Ashland, KY; nieces and nephews, Christie and Devra Lykins, Susie Lewis Owens, Nancy Adams Brown, Tobi Adams, Timothy Adams, Glenna Lewis, Jean Lewis, Catherine Mills, Jennifer Todd, Blaine Lewis, Jack Ditty, Jeff Ditty, Jill Ditty Meek.
