Funeral services for Mr. John M. Peace will be held Saturday, November 1, 2003 at 2 PM at Millbrook Baptist Church, Aiken, SC, with Reverend Dr. James Rivers and Reverend Dr. Tommy Pillows officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery Aiken, SC. Pallbearers will be Hubert Baker, Houston Brown, Ray Feaster, Harry Harmon, Stan Harmon, and John Longshore. Deacons of Millbrook Baptist Church as well as members of the Millbrook Anglers are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends Friday, October 31, 2003 from 6-8 PM at George Funeral Homes, Historic Downtown Chapel, 211 Park Ave., SW, Aiken, SC. Mr. Peace, 87, of Aiken, SC, husband of Mrs. Gladys Owens Peace, died Wednesday, afternoon, October 29, 2003 at Pepperhill Nursing Center. Born in Greenville County, SC, a son of the late Edwin and Florence Wood Peace, he had been a resident of Aiken, SC for the last years where he was a member of Millbrook Baptist Church. He retired after many years as a textile manager in the upstate region and also had been a Real Estate Agent. The family has requested memorials in memory of Mr. Peace be made to Millbrook Baptist Church, c/o the Building Fund, 176 East Pinelog Rd., Aiken, SC 29803. In addition to his wife of sixty-nine years, Gladys Owens Peace, sons, John R. Peace and R. Maurice Peace, both of Aiken, SC; daughter, Joy Ann Peace, Blythewood, SC; brother, Doug Peace, Greenville, SC; sister, Dakota Stroud, Mauldin, SC; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, survive.
